From the title alone m sure many of you can already relate for two reasons
· Either you have been on a journey you will never forget
· Or you wrote about it in primary school.
It was the 10 th of June in the year 1989…..This was how most of us began the composition with such a title. I will spare you the dramatic introduction, but this particular journey is one for the books.
So my journey began on Thursday afternoon, after l had attended a workshop in the capital city of Zimbabwe. It was supposed to be simple trip in and out. Going to Harare was breeze as l had my cousin with me .Being the type A that l am the moment l got to Harare l arranged my pick up for when l get back home. All was sorted, all l had to do was enjoy the workshop that brought me there in first place.
I won’t lie the workshop was great one, l had AHA moments as Oprah would call it, revelations the whole 9 yards (l will share those germs someday.)I am an introvert pretty much 80% of the time (this is so that my sister does not raise eye brows as a numbers person she would argue with that one). The point l am trying to make is that it was great meeting new people from different walks of life and learning a thing or two.

Once the workshop was over l herded to my friend s place to get my back pack and next stop was the bus stop. I will not get into the chaos that’s there at bus rank .l got into the bus right on time left 8pm sharp and l did the math in my head by 12 midnight l would be in Bulawayo, might l add that from Harare to Gweru the bus was right on schedule. All was good until we were parked in garage for what seemed like forever ( l thought to myself maybe they just fueling up and we will leave in few minutes)but no next we were moved from bus to a coaster at this point l was wondering what was happening as no one communicates anything.
My phone battery was on 10% and l was thinking a kambudzi would have been a great investment. Calm me thought we leaving soon and we will be in be home in no time and so we did .Trouble started again when we got to police road block this did not particularly go well and driver drove off thinking he got away with it oh no he did not. When we got to toll gate they denied opening the boom gate after which driver had paid toll gate fees .I thought well this will be quick the driver can handle this (this was my calm side trying to reason with my phone battery that was on 2%) .Eventually it switched off and l decided to try and sleep and maybe think of a solution.
Sleeping proved to be Mission Impossible (the first one), there were people arguing and making noise, but that’s not the fun part. You know there is always that one person who proves to be smarter than everyone is more connected knows everything about nothing…. (You get the point)We had that guy l am going to call him Jack.
Jack claimed he knew someone in the police department back home (Harare) and could somehow get us out of this sticky situation. It was a David and Goliath situation only David won his fight, Jack on the other hand m not sure but he definitely made things worse because we were still stuck .It took an older women to plead with police and eventually they let us go after 2 hours of proving a point. We drove of and l really wanted driver to drive slow because according to my calculation we would get to Bulawayo at 3am if he drove fast however if he drove as slow as a tortoise we could home at 4am even 5 am l was wrong. I dropped off at the garage we agreed upon with my friend at 3am and just when l thought this journey could not get worse it did……….
