Self-love

What is self-love? A concept that has been commercialized by social media, l mean between valentines and self-love there is going to be a lot of that flying around this month (Bokani has already combined the two in her business buy yourself a valentines present in name of self-love). There was discussion with few ladies and their responses caught my attention.

But what is self-love? It is about having a positive and healthy relationship with yourself. It means accepting yourself for who you are flaws and all this is according to Catherine Phiri.

Next question then becomes how does one makes sure not to be selfish in this self-love journey. Joyce Maneto says love others the way you want to be loved after all that is what the bible says simply put.

So this past weekend l took myself on a solo date… (Nami l thought l try self-love).On a serious note though can we talk about how daunting it is to go out alone (maybe it’s me) who every time she goes out she always has someone. So l thought let me try something new and see if l can do something by myself. So l eased into it as it was a group setting with no one l knew.

The idea was to find out who am l without my friends, family and and…Can l still make new friends without wanting to plug my work somewhere in there (it’s become part of me so much that it now comes naturally) But for this date that was not the intention as it was picnic and prayer l carried few bible samples (l know what you thinking but l was only trying to help mzalwane)

Now back to the date and what l learnt about Cee…                                     

…So l can mix and mingle with new people and hold a conversation without shamelessly plugging anything.

…it is nice to see yourself through lenses that do not know you they bring in fresh perspective about life in general.

….l was reminded about things l like to do alone that l keep saying l will do but have never done.

Where to from here? Solo date Solo date so if you see me out alone (m not crazy m just spending time with me).

In a world that demands and takes a lot from us many of us have never spend 10minutes alone doing nothing.(l know time is money but what good is the money if you are mentally unhealthy)The bible(my favourite book says beloved l pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health just as l know your soul prospers. God wants you to be well and make that mula.Many of us have forgotten who we are and makes us thrive.

Call it whatever that suits you but make time for you, even if its 10minutes before everyone wakes not to pack lunch tin (moms l see you) but to do something for you .l have said enough.
